When you're approaching an animal on the road, the best thing to do is to remain calm and try to avoid swerving. Proceeding normally is also not the best choice as it can result in a collision with the animal. Honking your horn may also startle the animal and cause it to move unpredictably. Therefore, the best and safest option is to slowly and calmly swerve around the animal, giving it enough space to move out of the way if needed.
